Currently, he holds the position of Section Chief over the Narcotics and Organized Crime Section within the United States Attorney’s Office in the Northern District of Texas. He oversees eight federal prosecutors that target high-priority organized crime groups that include organizations on the TICOT List and other organized crime groups designated by the United States Department of Justice Criminal Division’s Organized Crime and Gang Section (OCGS). These groups primarily include large-scale domestic and international drug trafficking and money laundering organizations such as Los Zeta, Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), La Familia - Michoacán, the Gulf Cartel and others.

 

The OCDETF section also investigates and prosecutes lower-level drug distribution organizations that are having significant adverse impacts on communities within the Northern District of Texas. These targeted groups include street gangs such as the Crips, MS-13 and prison gangs such as the Aryan Brotherhood, Tango Blast and Texas Syndicate.

 

Over the past several years he has assisted local law enforcement agencies with multiple high-profile death investigations. Those investigations include the murder of a prominent pediatric dentist who was shot in downtown Dallas as part of a murder-for-hire plot in 2015, the heroin overdose deaths of three former Coppell, Texas high school students during the summer of 2018 (HanGil Hotel) and the murder of an American Airlines executive out walking his dog in October 2020 (United States v. Jennifer Lynne Faith).

 

He is currently the lead AUSA assigned to investigate the fentanyl overdoses of students within the Carrollton – Farmers Branch Independent School District. Multiple students overdosed from the ingestion of counterfeit fentanyl pills (“M30s”) over the past several weeks at R. L. Turner High School, Dewitt Perry Middle School, Dan Long Middle School and Hebron High School in Carrollton, Texas. Three students died including a thirteen-year-old girl. He is a graduate of R. L. Turner High School and attended Dewitt Perry Middle School.
